Information for Medicare Patients

Medicare requires  patients to have:

      physical examinations once yearly that includes an office visit and blood testing

      colonoscopy every 10 years up to age 74 or occult blood stool testing every year until age 74

      yearly mammogram for females up to age 74

      depression screening yearly

      fall screening yearly

      eye exams yearly for diabetic patients

      yearly influenza vaccine

      pneumonia vaccine for all patients over age 65

Medicare also requires that patients:

      keep their hemoglobin A1c results below 9.0

      keep their blood pressure readings below 140/90

      keep their body mass index (BMI) below 25%

     

Medicare patients should always make sure that their primary care doctor get all reports from specialists or other clinics they attend.
